At this pool hall we went to in Changdong in northern Seoul, they provided customers with these three-fingered gloves. That changed my game forever. I didn’t get any better, mind you, and a practice round playing against myself would still last several days (assuming I don’t sink the eight ball), but it did give me a better grip on my beer glass, especially when it was covered in condensation. It also kept my fingers warm, even on an ice cold glass in the dead of winter.
Combined, those two factors allowed me to almost double my rate of sipping, greatly increasing my beer consumption and as a result, making the game of pool almost fun. Almost. I still find it dull beyond belief and I haven’t played once since that picture, which coincidentally, was taken exactly two years ago today. Even if I had wanted to play in that time, I’m not sure I could. You can’t expect me to go back to playing with all ten fingers exposed….
That is really the glove to use in playing billiards. There is no 5 finger glove 🙂
Yeah, I figured it was an official glove. I just thought it was funny that they provide them to people like us who clearly have no need for them. Plus, it looks ridiculous and I’ll take any opportunity to make fun of a game I’ve never liked.

I’m hopeless at playing billard, so I guess the glove would not help me 🙂

It didn’t help me either; but I’m not really sure it helps anyone all that much…

I have not heard of the three fingered gloves before. Interesting concept. I suppose combined with beer, it sure will enhance your ability to take risks and hence play better.

I think the beer probably helps more than the glove.
Oh my gosh lol, that was the funniest post I’ve read in a while! Thank you:)
Thanks! And it has now been six years since I took that photo and I still haven’t played a game of pool since using the glove.
